    Elders in council, display Eldership and lead the way. Elders engage with government and leaders as well as participate in a range of committees, providing advice and solutions regarding a broad range of issues faced by Australia\u2019s First Nation Peoples. These include cultural protocol and awareness, social and family structures, community development issues, historical issues, and traditional and contemporary issues affecting the First Peoples of Minjerribah.<\/p>

    The Minjerribah-Moorgumpin Elders-in-Council (MMEIC) delivers a high level of localised cultural advice and knowledge to a wide range of client groups across various communities and all levels of Government, providing cultural leadership through encouragement, education, commitment and preservation of our cultural pride. MMEIC ...<\/p>

    • <\/i> maintains culture, supports healing, and protect Indigenous heritage through providing cultural awareness\/ education\/ understanding by delivering cultural talks and awareness activities to schools, government, universities, community groups, and the general public;<\/i><\/li>
    • supports the recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages as this country\u2019s first tongues;<\/li>
    • <\/i> develops and maintains cultural protocols and to engage in First Nations\u2019 policy development with government and non-government agencies;<\/li>
    • <\/i> improves participation in society, and acceptance of Australian\u2019s First Peoples through development and promotion of cultural sharing;<\/li>
    • Delivering cultural events and culturally modelled social and youth wellbeing initiatives on Minjerribah.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t
      \r\n\t\t\t\t

      In consultation with the Elders in council, the Chairperson represents the Elders on several committees to advise groups on a broad range of issues faced by Australia\u2019s First Nation Peoples. These include cultural protocol and awareness, social and family structures, community development issues, historical issues, and traditional and contemporary issues affecting the First Peoples of\u00a0Minjerribah.<\/p>\n\n

To promote, support and assist Aboriginal traditional song, dance, art and language through any medium (such theatre, radio, and television), and in particular individuals that showcase traditional song, dance, art and languages of the Noonuccal, Goenpul and Ngugi tribes of Minjerribah, Moorgumpin, the Bay Islands and the Mainland.<\/div>

        6. To improve participation in society and acceptance of Aboriginal Australians throughdevelopment and promotion of cultural tourism and cultural heritage projects, topromote and protect Aboriginal culture and heritage on all the traditional lands of theNoonuccal, Goenpul and Ngugi tribes on Minjerribah, Moorgumpin.the Bay Islandsand the Mainland.<\/div><\/div>
