MOVING FORWARD TOGETHER PROJECT (MFT)<\/h3>\n

With the support and funding assistance of the Australian Government National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA), MMEIC deliver our ‘Moving Forward Together’ (MFT) Project.<\/p>\n

MFT is a partnership forged since 2013, between MMEIC, Community Organisations, the Queensland Government Department of Education, and schools on Quandamooka Country.<\/p>\n

MMEIC\u2019s role is to develop and maintain cultural protocols; to advocate for culturally safe learning environments for our children and families; to provide culturally-specific professional development for teachers and other staff; and to provide on-country learning experiences for learners in collaboration with curriculum leaders.<\/p>\n

MMEIC is an award-winning provider of Indigenous Education Services, receiving the Queensland Government Department of Education – South East Region, ‘Community Elder of the Year Award’ in both 2020 and 2021.<\/p>\n

ELDERS IN RESIDENCE
\nKINDY PROGRAM<\/h3>\n

MMEIC work with Kindy’s in the Quandamooka Region to create a tailored ‘Elders in Residence Program’ that incorporates multiple visits across the year, building Jarjums (kids) and their educators connections to Traditional Owner Elders of the Region. Each visit has a theme that builds Jarjums and educators knowledge and understanding of the culture, history, language and Law\/Lore of Goenpul, Ngugi and Noonuccal People. <\/p>\n

Themes can include cultural story telling, bush tucker foods, cooking, arts and crafts, language games, song and dance plus more. <\/p>\n

NSI SOCIAL & YOUTH JUSTICE WORKING GROUP<\/h3>\n

In 2022 MMEIC established the NSI Social & Youth Justice Working Group (NSIYSJWG) in response to years witnessing our loved ones\u2019 struggles with colonial violence: self-harm, substance abuse, violence, encounters with the law, and resulting loss of life. The NSIYSJWG is committed to healing our community\u2019s intergenerational trauma.<\/p>\n
