Cultural Talks

The Elders feel it is of utmost importance that the true traditions, stories and cultures be passed on through the generations. We play a key role in community education through programs to share our history and culture especially with young people.

Cultural Talks are implemented with the aim of developing a community awareness to gain recognition and respect for the Aboriginal cultural heritage of the region to inform students and the general public of, and respect for, the Island's unique Aboriginal culture.
The Cultural Talks are delivered by Aunty Margaret Iselin, an Elder from M.M.E.I.C who has a great wealth of knowledge of the local culture and tradition passed down through the generations. The majority of groups that attend the talks are from Primary and Secondary Schools and Educational Institutions. These groups are indigenous and non-indigenous people with immense interest in seeking knowledge and understanding of our Aboriginal culture
Cultural talks can be delivered at various sites on the island including:  MMEIC building
One hour Cultural Talk  Presentation , limit of 30 students per group-$250.00
